Hotel IL Nido

The hotel is very beautiful indeed. Everything was exceptional (hotel interior, sea view, location, rooms, cleanliness, service, breakfast). Staff is polite and friendly. The receptionist lady welcomed us and informed about all nearby locations, sample map, routes, travel options and suggestions which was very helpful for us. The breakfast and the view from breakfast area plus the sea view rooms were superb. Aldo asked us our preference for coffee/tea or any breakfast options and was polite and friendly. Hotel also has a Terrace(with beach chairs) on the top floor and with a view. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

DO NOT BOOK! I called the hotel prior to booking to ensure the room on their site was available and spoke to a man on the phone. He assured me it was available for our room specifications and dates. I booked directly on their site and not through a 3rd party. I got a confirmation email. The morning before I was to arrive, I received a call from Francesca telling me that only 2 of the 3 nights were available and they had some “error” in their computer system. I remained calm and decided to book just the 2 nights even though that left us without a hotel for the 3rd night. We were already on the train from northern to southern Italy when I got the call and didn’t have options. I will spare you the back and forth for hours about rooms, availability, etc., but it came to the fact that AFTER I had waited all day and already booked another hotel in Capri for the last night so we weren’t left without accommodations, Mike and Francesca emailed/ contacted me stating they had a “last minute cancellation” and my original room for the original dates was actually available. I am not one for coincidence so it seemed really suspect to me. Keep in mind this was around 10pm (22:00) the night before check in. I immediately called the hotel and spoke with Mike and explained I had already booked another hotel for the last night because I could not just hope it worked out and that I only needed it for the 2 nights they had told me earlier in the day were available…only to get an email the morning confirming 3 nights. The morning of check in I spoke with Francesca again, and explained I only needed it for 2 nights. The whole situation was a mess and ended up not staying at the property. I would not trust the hotel, its website or its staff. Be very careful when you or if you book. They are definitely playing games with their customers.

Stayed at Hotel il Nido to kick off our honeymoon in Amalfi. We got a balcony room overlooking the coast, and feel very lucky to have found the hotel, given it is great value and the surrounding hotels are a lot pricier. The hotel is very clean and well maintained as well. The staff were so great. Francesca, one of the receptionists, was always warm and knowledgeable. There's also a gentleman who works the evening reception who was also very helpful! They go above and beyond. Breakfast spread is good. Aldo who manages breakfast is very attentive and ensures guests are taken care of. Thanks Hotel Il Nido for an unforgettable stay =)
